NextGen Report: Potential for Alternative Transportation Fuels Production in Western States
NextGen has developed a brief using information from the Department of Energy and EPA which highlights the potential in the Western states for producing alternative transportation fuels, particularly coal-to-liquids projects.
The purpose of the brief is to show that environmentally acceptable design options exist today, in particular those reducing CO2 production and the use of water, using commercially available technology. Because of their coal resources and existing energy infrastructure, the Western states have an important role to play in providing the country with domestically produced transportation fuels.
